Queen House / In Progress
The Queen House project is a fusion of two Victorian terraces, seamlessly blending heritage architecture with contemporary design.
Located at one of East Sydney's busiest junctions, the design skilfully transforms the site into a quiet sanctuary through a careful orchestration of planning, landscaping, and architectural interventions.
The interiors, warm and light-filled, are meticulously organised over four levels, thoughtfully accommodating a couple and their frequently visiting adult children.
The design balances the preservation of period detailing with modern sensibilities, creating a dialogue between the original architectural fabric and new, clean-lined forms. Spatial organisation prioritises both privacy and connection, with well-considered circulation paths and expansive openings that invite natural light into the heart of the home.
Thoughtful seating areas link rooms, blurring the lines between traditional spaces and creating a sense of openness and flow. Face brick accents further ground the design, seamlessly connecting the interior with the landscaped exterior.
The outdoor space features a swimming pool surrounded by lush landscaping, offering a serene retreat. An enclosed landscaped courtyard, complete with an external fireplace, enhances the sense of tranquillity and provides an inviting space for relaxation and socialising.
By employing a refined material palette and nuanced interventions, the design transforms this busy urban site into a layered, sophisticated retreat, offering a serene response to family living amidst the vibrant pulse of city life.
